If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? – 1 John 3:17 ESV
I had been praying a specific prayer for a friend’s need and was not sure how God would answer but when it came down to the time to act, my name became “Anyone.”
When I was processing that I am “anyone,” God showed me more scriptures in which I will share, while He confirmed my acceptance of His assignment:
John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” - Luke 3:11 ESV
Do not say to you neighbor, “Go and come again, tomorrow I will give it” - when you have it with you. - Proverbs 3:28 ESV
Do not neglect to do good and share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. - Hebrew 13:16 ESV
Helping others may take us out of our comfort zone, it may be a sacrifice of our time and our finances, but when Jesus willingly left heaven to hang on a cross so He could share His love and offer forgiveness, it should show me that I can obey His word and allow Him to work through me.
Heavenly Father, You are our example of sacrifice, serving and loving others. You have sent us a Helper (John 14:16) who strengthens and encourages us as we use the resources You have given us to contribute to the needs of others and seek to show hospitality (Romans 10:13). Help us to see those You have placed before us to help and show love.
