Ascribe to the LORD, the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness. 1 Chronicles 16: 29
Are you like me and thought worshipping God is only when we sing praise songs? I hadn’t given it much thought until God pointed out the meaning of worship. The American Heritage Dictionary describes worship as 1. The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object. 2. The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which love is expressed. 3. Ardent admiration or love; adoration.
When I understood the meaning of worship, I became aware of my thoughts toward God, my time, what motivates me, what I allow to lead me, and how I treat others, who I turn to for guidance, His creation…, then I bunched it all up and realized that our lives and how we live are a form of worship. It’s akin to when we love someone, we want them to be pleased, give of ourselves, communicate, seek guidance, walk through life together, and so on.
Hopefully, we become encouraged after an inventory of how our life is spent in the Lord. Maybe we need to tweak some things or maybe we need to be encouraged that our hearts are what God desires and ours is willing.
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us understanding, thank You for loving us, and showing us how to love You. We offer up ourselves to You with an open heart of worship for You to use for Your glory.
