Distortions

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. - Psalm 18:30 (BSB)

After getting out of some bad situations that literally drained the essence of what made me be me, I realized that I no longer possessed things I considered sacred, or sentimental; like personal traditions, favorite holidays, favorite colors, hobbies, even my personality, etc. I didn’t have anything left but a shell carrying a soul.

Then as usual the Lord gently said “Look what they’ve done to Me.” He showed me that the whole of His creation and what He intended for us as His creation has been wrongly distorted away from Him and His image.

Once that sunk in, I felt sad and thought ‘If God can still love all of us and continue to have a purpose in training my heart to rejoice in what He did for me, then I can encourage my heart to get back to the basics of what God has to say about this world and what is important to Him; by doing this I can move forward in my empty shell in a new way that can still honor Him and discover the person He created me to be.

The world and others can steal away the truth of who we are as an individual, and who we are to God and who God is. We can counteract this by reading the Word of God and truly seeking Him. We can settle all the distracting turmoil and discover that no matter what the world or others say, we can know whose we are and the God with whom our soul rejoices.

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 1:6

Heavenly Father, You are the truth and what really matters, even when we lose ourselves for a time, it is You who can settle our heart and complete the good work in us for Your glory, may You shield us from the lies of this world and guide us to Your flawless word.
