Do You Notice?

“If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” And He was saying to them, “Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure, it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides.” - Mark 4:23-24 (NASB)

In the above scripture, the words of Christ show us how God does speak to us and wants to speak to His children, but do we notice?

Prior to my devotion time with Jesus, I may have had a full day or just starting the day. When I say “time” I mean a time especially set aside without distraction. My pets are settled, or I may have to get them to be quiet, so I can hear and see what the Lord is saying.

I want to give an example of how I have been keeping track of the Spirit of God revealing Himself to me. The other night I had been praying specific prayers and then ‘randomly’ with an expectancy I opened my bible and looked down to two separate chapters in Proverbs that gave me answers to what I was praying about. Silly me, did not write down the chapters that evening.

The next day I woke up thinking about what God had said in His word the night before, thinking how I wished I would have written this down. Once again, after praying, I opened my bible and behold, amazingly, the answers to my current prayer were there in the same chapters of Proverbs from the night before. The Lord really wanted me to know He remembered, and His words of comfort were for me to remember and assuring me that He is with me.

I want eyes to see, ears to hear and I want a heart that keeps the Lord at the center of my being and seeks to understand what He is saying as He gives His spiritual truth.

“For whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.” Verse 25.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word. Thank You for speaking to Your people, help us to notice Your Spirit who is seeking to help us, and help us to hide Your word deep in our hearts so that we may follow You diligently as You lead.
