Only for Him

“I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, nor My praise to graven images.” - Isaiah 42:8 (NASB)

I have been mulling over this scripture trying to recall the times I took credit for something I should have given to God, or times I didn’t think about how God is the one who put desires in my heart that He wants to accomplish through me to fulfill His purpose.

This is very humbling to me and prompts me to seek a closer relationship with the Lord so I can be more aware of His work, His ways, and His purpose for creating me. He says in verse 5; “Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it…”

He gives each of us breath and spirit, He created the heavens and earth, and that’s not something I can do, nor any other being. To God be the glory.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that You are the cause of life and existence and that there is nothing that will be given the glory in the heavens or on earth. May we recognize You each day and share with others what You have done and are doing.
