They Will

Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. - Isaiah 40:31 (NASB)

I used to say, “If I’m not at home, I’m in a waiting room, and while in a waiting room I feel like I’m home.” It seems as though a good portion of my time as a mother has been spent in a hospital or physician's waiting room, looking for answers, testing, or follow-up appointments for my daughter. To benefit from these moments I look at magazines, my phone, drink coffee, sit quietly and comfort my daughter. I must admit there are frustrating situations with long wait times, no answers, a hungry, tired patient - I won’t mention any names.

Yet in those times the Lord did give us strength for each minute of waiting and even though the reasons for waiting were not pleasant, our faithful Lord, did raise us up above the circumstances. There was a natural tiredness from those long days, but God gave us endurance.

Do you feel like you are in God’s waiting room? This can be one of the best places to find comfort and sip some coffee while getting into His word and taking some quiet time and gain new strength.

Most Faithful Father, thank You for teaching us to wait and for showing us that waiting can be a blessing, even as we wait here on earth to be with You forever in eternity.
