The After Christmas Story

NewBeginningsGMC

We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. – 1 John 4: 14-15 NASB

If we celebrate the birth of Jesus on a specific day, what do we do with the rest of the year? I used to think if I just believed in Him and lived a good life, then that’s enough. But I was missing out on something special: an intimate relationship with a living Savior. I wasn’t reading my Bible, I was praying as needed for others and myself, and at a point in my life, I was living a sinful life. Did Jesus love me through it all, yes. But He didn’t stop there. He pursued me, convicted my heart, and I eventually had to choose how deep I wanted this relationship to go. “For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out.” – Ezekiel 34:11 ESV

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. - Revelation 3:20 ESV. The life we live in Him isn’t without pain, suffering, and temptation; it’s a life of assurance and joy amid sorrow, knowing that this life is temporary and that we have an eternal home that far outweighs our hardship here on earth. We have a promise that our Lord will be with us wherever we go. Are there conditions to that? “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” As spoken in Romans 10:13, call upon His name, Jesus.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for revealing Yourself to us through Jesus and giving us Your words of truth in 1 John 3:20, “And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.” May we hear from you and seek a relationship with you.
